Wallabies vs Italy team news, Nick Frost ruled out for Australia

The injury-riddled Wallabies have been hit with yet another setback ahead of Sunday’s (12am AEDT kickoff) Test against Italy in Florence, with starting lock Nick Frost a late scratching on match eve.

Frost was already nursing a minor ankle injury from the heartbreaking loss to France in Paris and then picked up a stomach bug which ruled him out of the clash at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The 23-year-old Brumbies star has been replaced in the run-on XV by clubmate Darcy Swain, making his Test return after serving a six game suspension.

Another Brumbies second rower, Cadeyrn Neville, comes onto the bench after originally being handed a breather.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that fullback Jock Campbell was in doubt for the match as he also battles a stomach bug.

Jordan Petaia, who was named on the bench, is one option to wear No.15 if Campbell is ruled out.

The Wallabies – who have battled a horrific injury toll all season – are already without first-choice fullback Tom Banks, who was hurt in the win over Scotland in Edinburgh.

“He’s got a bit of a bung ankle,” Wallabies coach Dave Rennie said.

“We thought it might come right by now. It looks like he won’t even be right for Ireland (on November 20 AEDT), so we’ve got some decisions to make there.”

Rennie said the demanding schedule was the reason for an overhaul to the starting XV.

“We always knew a gruelling five Test end of year tour would require a full squad effort.

“We made nine changes after the win over Scotland and planned a similar number for Italy but injuries have increased that by a couple.”
