Roosters, England enforcer Victor Radley reportedly involved in brawl following World Cup exit

Roosters star Victor Radley has allegedly been involved in a brawl in Manchester, following the English side’s exit from the Rugby League World Cup.

The 24-year-old, who was playing in his first RLWC and representing England for the first time, is reportedly under investigation by officials over an incident with Irish player James Bentley.

As first reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, Radley was at a pub with his English teammates when the fight with Bentley broke out.

RLWC and England Rugby League (ERL) are both investigating the alleged incident, which occurred on Sunday night local time.

Senior reporter Michael Chammas told Channel 9 that Bentley had been disturbing the English players throughout the night prior to the incident with Radley.

“The Rugby League World Cup has launched an investigation into allegations of a brawl involving Sydney Roosters star, Victor Radley,” he said.

“The allegations revolve around Ireland international James Bentley.

“England Rugby League claim they asked Bentley to leave the premises or they would call the police. He would later return, instigating a brawl with Victor Radley.

“It comes on the same night the Samoan Rugby League complained of a series of door knocks at 1.30am inside the team hotel that they were sharing with the England side.”

Radley has had his fair share of off-field hiccups during his time in the NRL, but initial reports indicate the Roosters lock was not the instigator in this situation.

The report from SMH also revealed that two other English players were involved in the incident, and that Radley was defending head coach Shaun Wane, who was reportedly being abused by Bentley.

England were eliminated from the tournament in a narrow loss to Samoa in their semi-final clash over the weekend.
