Brisbane will have to beat the reigning premiers without one of their key strike weapons after Joe Daniher was withdrawn from Friday night’s semi final against the Demons.
The Lions revealed on Friday morning that Daniher would not feature against Melbourne due to personal reasons.
It’s since been reported Daniher’s wife has gone into labour, seeing the 28-year-old return home to be with his family.
In his place, 23-year-old Tom Fullarton has been recalled into the team for his fifth senior game of 2022 and first since round 18.
“Daniher has been removed from the 22 for the clash at the MCG due to family reasons,” a club statement said.
“The club supports Joe’s decision to be with his family at this time and respects their privacy.”
Fullarton becomes the fifth change to Chris Fagan’s side which defeated Richmond in the elimination final last week.
Darcy Fort replaced the concussed Oscar McInerney, while Cam Rayner and Noah Answerth were both named to return, and Callum Ah Chee elevated into the 22.
Mitch Robinson, Rhys Matheison and Jaxon Prior all miss out.
The Demons will go in unchanged at the MCG after Christian Petracca and Charlie Spargo overcame injury concerns.
